General Information Guide

About the Tournament

This year’s competition in memory of ex IFC Prague player Colin Currie will consist of five teams: hosts International Football Club of Prague (IFC), Budapest Celtic, Sokol Skrben, Ze Germans FC and  IFC Prague Old Boys team.

Tournament Venue

The venue for this year’s tournament will be - as in all previous years - Sportcentrum U Drahušky, home ground of TJ CZU Praha of the I.A třída 6th Division of the Czech Football League. Sportcentrum U Drahušky is situated near to Prague Airport, a short drive from the centre of Prague, and boasts an excellent, plush, grass pitch providing an ideal playing surface for football. There will be two changing rooms as well as shower facilities available at the ground though due to the number of teams it will be necessary that changing room facilities be shared. Therefore it is advised that any valuables left in the changing rooms are left at the owner’s risk.

For refreshments during the day a restaurant with an open-air beer garden is conveniently located at the ground where beer and other drinks can be purchased throughout the day. There will also be an all-day barbeque available with grilled meats and salads. Note that refreshments at the ground are NOT FREE and must be paid as you go.

Tournament Format

The format for this year’s competition will be on a round robin league table basis with each team playing each other once.

Tournament Draw

A draw will be made in O’Che’s Bar, Liliova 14, Praha 1 on Friday night, 7th of June at approximately 9 p.m. to determine the order of play for the next day.

Tournament Rules

1.)    Squad Size: Numbers unlimited

2.)    Substitutes: Free substitution.

3.)    Player Representation: Any player already having represented a team may NOT then represent another team later in the tournament.

4.)    Disciplinary punishments: Yellow cards received do not receive a ban. Players receiving red cards however will automatically serve an immediate, one match ban.

5.)   League Standings and Point Allocation System: Round robin league play will be on a mini-league basis with each team playing each other once. Matches will consist of two, 15 minutes halves. Three points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. In the event of teams being level on points in the final league table, the eventual winner will be determined by the following criteria in the order indicated below:

A.) Superior goal difference (the sum of goals scored minus goals conceded)

B.) Greater number of goals scored

C.) Penalty shootout.

Minute Silence

Before the commencement of the opening match of the tournament (scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m.) a period of one minute’s silence will be observed in memory of Colin Currie and Zdenek Bednařík. All players in the tournament, regardless of what time their first match kicks off, are expected to be present.

Team Awards

The Winner’s will receive a Champions trophy to take home with them. The original crystal football trophy (Colin Currie Memorial Trophy) will remain in O’Che’s Bar in Prague for safekeeping. In addition, a Runner’s Up trophy will be awarded to the Second Place finishers.

Individual Awards

Individual awards will be presented for Player of the Tournament and Goal of the Tournament.

Evening Programme

As in previous years, O’Che’s bar owner Gordon Cowan has once again generously offered to host and sponsor the evening programme at O’Che’s Bar (Liliova 14, Praha 1) where the Awards Presentation Evening of team trophies and individual awards will be presented. Starting from 7:00 p.m., all players and special guests will be invited to an evening consisting of free “finger food” and beer or soft drinks courtesy of O’Che’s Bar. Please note that any spirits, Guinness or other drinks are NOT FREE and must be paid for separately. The official end of the evening programme will be at 10 o’clock though guests are welcome to stay on in O’Che’s and continue the party.

!!! Please Arrive Promptly for the Evening Programme !!!

In previous years, some team’s members and invited guests have arrived late holding up the schedule of the evening’s proceedings. We therefore would like to ask everyone this year to please arrive promptly for the designated start time.
